Esther David (b. 1945) is an author and artist, who studied art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. University, Baroda, under the guidance of Guru Sankho Choudhuri and imbibed Tagorean ideals. She has received the Sahitya Akademi Award for English literature based on Jewish life and has been a speaker at literature conferences in India and abroad. She has held exhibitions of her sculptures and drawings in Mumbai and later worked in the area of Outsider Art and exhibited the same at UNESCO, Paris. She was Art Critic-Columnist for The Times of India, Ahmedabad; had a Food-Column in Ahmedabad Mirror, wrote about lifestyle in Femina Gujarat; was a chairperson of Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy; organized festivals with West Zone Cultural Center, often teaches Art-Appreciation at CEPT University and illustrates her own novels. She has received the "National Jewish Book Award, USA - 2O21 for her book "Bene Appetit-the Cuisine of Indian Jews."
