Born in 1973, Kozhikode, Kerala, India, is an independent visual artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans painting, sculpture, and contemporary visual explorations. He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Sculpture from the College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram, in 1993, and later participated in a Summer Residency Certificate Program in Berlin in 2015 as part of his MFA in Creative Practice from the Transart Institute, New York. His work engages deeply with themes of memory, identity, landscape, and the shifting nature of lived experience, creating a visual language that is both observational and abstract. Navigating between the personal and the collective, Pradeepkumar employs gestural forms, subtle textures, and evocative compositions to construct poetic narratives that reflect psychological states as well as socio-cultural realities. His works often evoke a sense of time, transformation, and spatial fluidity, encouraging contemplative engagement from viewers. Over the past three decades, he has exhibited extensively across India and internationally. His recent solo exhibitions include “Lineal Descendant” (Gallery OED, Kochi, 2025), “The River Flowing Through Me” (Art Centrix Space, New Delhi, 2023), and “Improbable Suburban” (Gallery OED, Kochi, 2018). He has also participated in significant group exhibitions such as multiple editions of the India Art Fair, “In the Dappled Light” at Sarmaya Art Foundation, Mumbai (2025), “Room for Banana Republic” in New Delhi (2025), and “Lokame Tharavadu,” curated by Bose Krishnamachari in Kerala (2021), among many others. His achievements include receiving the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant in 2025 and being named a Highly Commended Artist at the Homiens Art Prize (Winter 2025). Earlier in his career, he was awarded the Kerala Lalit Kala Akademi State Award for Painting in 2002. He has also participated in several notable national and international residencies in cities such as Berlin, Mumbai, Baroda, and New Delhi. Pradeepkumar currently lives and works between Kochi and New Delhi, continuing to develop a reflective and layered artistic practice.
