
Born in 1997 in Kendujhar,Odisha. Subhasmita has done her Bachelor’s degree in painting from B.K College of Art and Crafts, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Subhasmita’s work deeply engages with the concept of weaving and draws inspirations from and cultural heritage with feminist ideals in her artwork. Drawing inspiration from Odishi dance and traditional weaves, she incorporates various mythological forms from her culture into natural elements. Her contemporary pieces boldly challenge societal norms, reflecting her friendly demeanor, unwavering determination, and eagerness to innovate.
Through her art, Subhasmita initiates conversations on the multifaceted experiences of women, delving into feelings, pain, emotion, and struggle across different life stages. Her work beautifully depicts the intricate interplay between tradition and feminism, weaving a narrative of symbiosis and empowerment while honoring the rich traditions of her native Odisha.
