Transition, is a use of humour and irony for the concrete jungle that Ahmedabad is becoming, and people flocking towards it and disregarding the demolition of the heritage that is happening in the process. In this work, the bird feeder or the ‘chabootra’, is shown in a wide spectrum of colours, a metaphor for the vibrancy of our heritage. The foreground is set on a backdrop of the scaffoldings in dull greys, showing the unattractiveness of the so-called ‘concrete jungle’. Other iconic features of this painting, the construction machinery in the foreground, about to demolish the bird feeder and the birds flying away, both are seemingly interwoven.
