Amdavad ni Gufa, Ahmedabad
The tenth exhibition of portraits from the series showcases classical paintings from all across India, displaying the virtuosity and diversity of our painters. The exhibition will cover 300 years, from 1590-1890, and a vast geographic region from Jammu to Thanjavur, allowing viewers to compare how different patrons wished to be remembered and observe how historical events shaped India’s painting traditions.
Vivek Desai has made a name for himself as a lens-man of distinction. He has done path breaking work in a number of areas ranging from socio-cultural documentation of Kachchh, the Dangs, and life in Ahmedabad to the widely acclaimed photography of Banaras.
Banaras-the breathing legacy, is an excellent collection of photographs through which Vivek Desai takes us to small lanes and ghats that transform Banaras to Kashi.
